Highland Meadow Montessori Academy Reviews

I have had two children attend HMMA over the past 5 years. Sadly, this will be our last year at HMMA as we will be transitioning to public school. We have never donated a large sum of money to earn the 'favoritism' to which other posters alluded. We have also never experienced any negative response to our decision not to do so. It is a very small school with a very limited budget and the difficulties that come with that. However, my children loved their experience at HMMA, and the older of the two loves to say 'Hi' to his former teachers when we pick up his brother each day. Both of my children have excelled. My youngest, as a preschooler, is reading, loves working with the math-related tools and tells me that he is 'proud of himself' for his successes. We have and will continue to recommend HMMA to others.

I have to agree with the other posters. The good postings come from parents that received the 'favoritism' or were determined to have money to donate to the school extra functions. We spent two years at the school and my child still tells me how horrible it was. The teacher told her not to share things or there would be challenges. I was very disappointed!

Fantastic Montessori school. My child attended HMMA for 5 years and was accepted into a traditional, structured private school this year. (5th grade) He is excelling socially and academically and loves to go. He still stops in at HMMA to say hello to the staff and kids... a great environment and education. He commented the other day that he misses the depth of the Montessori manipulatives offered at HMMA. His conceptual understanding of foundational concepts is excellent. The staff truly knows and cares about each individual student.

A school is only as good as there leaders and this school has terrible leaders.I know this first hand you might see good reviews but I promise you that they are from the parents who were given favortisem. We had a great first yr then everything change the second yr ,the guids changed, communication stopped. My child tells everyone of her bad experience at hmma.

I agree with this rating. The language materials were not prepared at the beginning of the year. It took me and several other parents weeks to prepare the materials, cutting and laminating only to find that the remaining items for the language program - the objects - were not available to the students. So the language program sat even longer. Nobody seemed the least concerned that months went by before this program was up and running. The teacher was a first year teacher with an assistant who although was very caring had no experience in childhood education or working in any classroom. There was poor organization among the primary teachers and the children never even went on so much as a nature walk much less a field trip. Not even a visiting field trip...very sad for the children.

This is a wonderful school! My child has recently transitioned into public school and is begging to go back. What he learned in this school is shining through in his personality and in his academics. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

My son has been at HMMA for 5 years. We feel like this is our family. We love the teachers, staff and the atmosphere. He has grown and learned so much here at HMMA.

Highland Meadows is the Montessori approach at it's best! Ms. Pat creates a loving and nuturing environment for the kids and her staff are outstanding teachers. We are very pleased with the emotional and academic growth our son has achieved in his 3 years at the school. We can't say enough good things about HMMA!
